Children & Youth Program Coordinator 

 

 

 

Kelowna Unitarians are an inclusive community founded on the values of freedom, reason, tolerance and love. We draw on a variety of sources including our own direct experience, wisdom from the world’s religious traditions, the prophetic examples of those who have called for social justice, and the processes and results of scientific inquiry. 

 

We seek a part time Coordinator for our Children & Youth Program who will work in collaboration with the Minister, Rev. Danielle Webber, parents and Children & Youth Program Committee to develop fun and creative programming for our young people. We are seeking a person who can collaborate in the creation of a vision of our children’s program. With a wide range of written curriculum to choose from, the Coordinator would create a program that provides opportunities for spiritual and emotional growth, learning about Unitarian Universalism and other religions and cultures, exploration of new ideas, as well as making friends and developing a sense of belonging. We hope that the children will deepen their understanding of themselves and of life and empower one another to work for a more just and caring world. 

 

Responsibilities include planning and delivering programming for children’s group on Sunday mornings, supporting volunteers, participating in weekly meetings with other staff, administrative tasks. 

 

Position Details: 

  • Part time contract averaging 10 hours/week, including Sunday mornings 

  • Kelowna Unitarians would like the new Coordinator to begin as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will remain open until it is filled. 

  • $17/hour

  • There is a separate budget for professional expenses 

 

Requirements 

  • Knowledge of child development and experience working with children and youth.

  • Ability to plan, develop, and implement curricula.

  • Ability to work with volunteers.

  • Knowledge of Unitarian Universalism is an asset 

  • Computer skills using email, internet, word processing, social media etc.

  • The successful candidate will need to complete a criminal record check

Rev. Danielle Webber is a third-generation UU, growing up in this tradition.  She decided to become a minister in 2012 while completing a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology and Religious Studies and completed the Masters of Divinity in 2016.
