About the event

Presenters: Erica Stewart and Joanna Cockerline  //  Worship Associate: Jane Vallentyne

This service brings together Erica Stewart, who has lived experience as a leader in Kelowna's unhoused community, and Joanna Cockerline, an outreach volunteer and author of the novel “Still” which is set in Kelowna's street-level sex work and unhoused communities. Erica and Joanna look forward to sharing their insights, experiences, a reading from Still, and a consideration of the deep bonds, friendships and chosen family on the street - alongside paths forward both now and in the future.

About our speakers:

Erica Stewart is a KU member who was homeless for 3 years in Kelowna and was formerly known as "the mayor of tent city" for her ability to communicate, advocate and collaborate with residents and bylaw officers. She has since lived in tiny houses and is now in supportive housing.

Joanna Cockerline is a CBC Literary Award prizewinner…
