Church Administrator / Bookkeeper / Rentals Manager
Kelowna Unitarians (KU) is seeking a versatile, highly organized Church Administrator / Bookkeeper / Rentals Manager to provide the operational foundation that keeps our church legal, financially sound, and smoothly functional in our daily operations and facility management.
Location: 1310 Bertram Street, Kelowna, BC (Downtown Core)
Position Type: Part-Time, Permanent (25 hours/week, 70% FTE) Kelowna Unitarians Employee
Compensation: $30 per hour. Position subject to all relevant statutory deductions as per the BC Employment Standards Act.

Position Description
The Church Administrator/Bookkeeper/Rentals Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operational workflow, property optimization, and financial administrative health of Kelowna Unitarians. This multifaceted role combines daily office administration, core transaction bookkeeping, proactive facility rentals management, and the coordination of essential church life functions, including membership database integrity and building care.
Working closely with lay leadership, the individual will maintain organized systems and timely tracking to support the congregation's compliance with the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA), the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC), and the BC Societies Act. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable professional who approaches diverse tasks with a spirit of curiosity, efficiency, and proactive problem-solving.

Located near the Kelowna Cultural District and local amenities, our downtown property frequently has unhoused individuals present. Applicants must possess the maturity and communication skills to interact with diverse populations respectfully, clearly, and without undue personal stress.
Qualifications:
Proven, practical experience is prioritized over formal degrees for this multifaceted role. Three to five years experience working or volunteering within a non-profit organization or registered charity is preferred.

Knowledge of Canadian church or non-profit governance and regulations

Robust track record of hands-on experience in full-charge bookkeeping (including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing) alongside strong office coordination skills.

Proficiency with modern accounting software and digital workplace tools is essential.

Comfort working independently on-site and interacting with Kelowna Unitarians members and a diverse downtown community with empathy, respect, and professionalism.

Knowledge of the BC Societies Act, CRA guidelines for charities, or the hospitality/rentals sector is a significant asset
