Our Child & Youth Coordinator
Amanda Kelly is a fourth year BFa creative writing student at UBC Okanagan. Amanda is passionate about intersectional living, fostering healthy communities and creating spiritually and creatively engaged children.
Some of Amanda’s spiritual influences stem from Mary Oliver, John O’Donoghue, the colors of a sunset, the turning of leaves in autumn and underlying principles from a Christian background. She has worked with many different age groups, whether that was being an Educational Assistant to high school students, a nanny many kids over the years, or coordinating community events for Project Literacy Kelowna. She cannot wait to bring a focused, gentle, empathic, and experienced presence to programming thoughtful and engaging material.
Ultimately, she views kids as wanting to be having valid opinions and thoughts, just the same as adults, if you let them speak- it can be profound and bring levity. She is thoroughly enjoying learning about the Unitarian values and sees a community that can grow and reach out to impact Kelowna. She believes that this is more of a vocational role than a job position, a place to make a difference and truly invest her heart.
Amanda is looking forward to the fall when she can meet all of you in person and begin an enriching children’s program.
