About the event
Presenter: Jan Dawson // Worship Associate: Marilyn Raymond
In a world plagued with so many troubles, it is very easy to become overwhelmed about how to help. In this service Jan will tell us about how she and her husband Kim identified a way they could do something meaningful to them and others. With Kim’s background as a psychologist working with trauma and Jan’s involvement with training troubled dogs, it was a natural fit to create a charity that supports both the human and animal survivors of domestic violence.
About our presenter:
Jan Dawson and her husband Kim are longtime Unitarians who greatly enjoyed their involvement with KU for the eleven years that they lived with their various dogs and cats in Kelowna. In 2020, they moved to Victoria to be closer to Kim’s aging parents. In 2021, Jan and Kim successfully registered their charity, Warm Hearts Pet Safe Havens Society. As president, Jan is an avid spokesperson and program developer whose personal mission statement is to nurture and protect the human animal bond.
The mission of the charity reads:
KEEPING PETS AND PEOPLE TOGETHER
Providing Warm-Hearted Funding and Resources for Transition Houses to Protect Pets and Their People During Crisis
